NWMO

Visitors Centre Model and Graphics

Objective

NWMO sought a new model to depict the site selections for their nuclear waste solution that incorporated the local geography/topography of the specific sites along with a depiction of what the installation would look like both above ground and below ground. The model would need to be interactive, allowing visitors to become more informed on the various aspects of the solution.

Solution

stevensE3 designed a large 6 ft x 8 ft model at 1:1500 scale that depicted the exact GPS coordinate topography of the region with the integration of the above and below ground facilities that were to be designed for the long term storage of nuclear waste. These models would be required to be site specific and the photos of this are the first of a few models to be fabricated. 18 digital videos of a virtual environment had to be created for English and French educational videos depicting the various areas of the site and what their use was. Programming was developed to allow visitors to select various videos through the use of physical buttons that depicted their selections on a digital display. All video content and programming was completed by stevensE3.
